WRITING

Imagine standing in front of a painting and suddenly the walls around you disappear, the paint from the canvas melts into the surrounding area, consuming it. You are suddenly surrounded by the painting; it flows under your feet, teasing you, tempting you to join it and to become one with the space. The pictorial nature of the painting is no longer important, the lack of perspective or apparent disregard of it is now immaterial. The colour, hypnotic in its vast expanse, wraps you up and drags you into the depths of the work from which it reaches. You stare unblinkingly at the canvas, unaware of yourself as your eyes, fixed on one spot, allow the whole painting to unfurl.
